RunningBrooke is in search of two new part-time team members! RunningBrooke is dedicated to a very important and specific mission – to spark a movement revolution in classrooms and schools. By integrating creative and sustainable movement practices and programs into the school day, we enhance academic performance and empower all students to achieve long-term success.
Led by our Founder and CEO, we are a small and active team of people committed to ensuring that Alexandria’s youth have the best chance to succeed. Our Move2Learn Program is transforming sedentary, desk-centered classrooms into movement-oriented, kinesthetic learning centers. We are at a critical stage in our growth, and it’s an exciting time to join us and make an impact!
Duties:
1. Operational Assistant
Approximately 50% of our new team member’s time will be dedicated to providing administrative support to our Grants Team.
- Serve as the staff primary point of contact for our Grants Committee Chair
- Work with our Grants Committee Chair to create and update grant applications
- Draft and send email and other correspondence to grant recipients and partners
- Coordinate and schedule site visits with grant partners, board members, donors, and other stakeholders
- Request and gather mid and end of year reports and compile results
- Prepare administrative materials for Grants Committee meetings
- Other duties as necessary
The remaining 50% of time will be dedicated to communications activities and providing support to our Communications Team and Executive Director.
- Create and post content on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
- Develop and post website content and updates (WordPress platform)
- Other duties as necessary
2. Move2Learn Program Facilitator
- Work directly with the Move2Learn Program Director to help teachers increase student movement opportunities during academics
- Draft and send email and other correspondence to teachers and Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) administrators
- Prepare materials for distribution to teachers and ACPS administrators
- Coordinate and schedule teacher professional development opportunities
- Work directly with teachers and students in ACPS schools
- Brainstorm new ideas and projects to grow the Move2Learn program
- Other duties as necessary
Our ideal new team members will:
- Be available to work 10-15 hours per week
- Be able to work from our casual office in Alexandria 1-2 days per week between 10-3, with the remainder of time worked outside the office
- Have professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree preferred (Operational Assistant)
- Have a strong education and/or health and fitness background with professional teaching experience. Bachelor’s degree required. (Move2Learn Program Facilitator)
- Submit and pass the background check required for volunteers who work within ACPS schools (Move2Learn Program Facilitator)
- Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ideally with experience creating social media campaigns and other electronic communications
- Have exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships with staff, board members, stakeholders, and partners
- Have exceptional organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities, achieve high performance goals, and meet deadlines
- Have proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, professionalism and demonstrate the highest level of customer service
- Be a highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to work effectively independently
- Be flexible and adaptable to the ins and outs of a high-impact nonprofit
- Share enthusiasm for our mission, be professional and respectful of donors, stakeholders, and partners, and be excited about being part of a growing local nonprofit
