Looking Ahead in 2021
Starting out fresh always feels good, but especially so after a challenging year like 2020. We’re ready to dive right into our 12th year serving the children of our community with optimism and continued commitment.
Our focus remains steadfast: To empower all Alexandria City Public School students to achieve academic success by integrating creative and sustainable movement practices and programs into the school day, whether virtually or in person.
Last year was one of learning and adjusting for everyone. At RunningBrooke, our biggest and most important takeaway was meeting the needs of students who were now in their virtual classrooms. We rose to the challenge, pivoting quickly and successfully to programs like Move2Learn-At-Home, distributing more than 1,800 toolkits throughout Alexandria.
We’re ready for whatever 2021 throws our way! Here’s a look at some of our goals:
- Expanding the impact of the Move2Learn programs, both at home and in the classroom, to meet the needs of even more students;
- Building a more diverse RunningBrooke advisory committee to better reflect our community and its needs;
- Increasing education and advocacy efforts to prioritize movement in policies and programs to better serve Alexandria’s students.
There’s no denying it, the challenges we continue to face due to the pandemic are affecting our students in a big way. We appreciate your support to provide tools to level the playing field and help all Alexandria kids do, feel and learn their best. Thank you!
