2017 Move2Learn Grant Applications Due December 31st
The application deadline is: December 31, 2016
RunningBrooke grants are awarded to non-profit organizations that serve Alexandria’s children who are at-risk and under served.
To make the greatest possible impact in kids’ lives we will be examining proposals to determine the extent to which they:
- Use exercise and/or movement before learning to activate children’s brains (Move2Learn).
Address one or more of our target areas of focus:
Keeping children in school and performing at grade level (tutoring and literacy programs)
Prepare children to enter kindergarten healthy and ready to learn (pre-school programs)
Help children develop healthy lifestyle habits, especially getting outside and moving - Serve children who are City of Alexandria residents and at-risk for achieving academic success.
- Have articulated and measurable outcomes consistent with their mission/vision.
- Are creative and collaborative, finding ways to leverage the benefits of their programs to more than the individual participants.
- Priority will be given to programs that use exercise and elevate the heart rate before class or tutoring to activate children’s readiness to learn. Aside from the obvious physical health benefits of exercise, we believe that active children, learn better.
