Four Mile Run Playground Community Preview

A new playground is coming to Four Mile Run Park later this spring! RunningBrooke is proud to partner with the City’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities, the LizLuke Team, The Rotary Club of Alexandria, and other community partners to bring a game-changing playground to the Arlandria neighborhood so that kids and families can play and get active together within walking distance of their homes.

The Ribbon Cutting

Community Build Day

The playground is the second phase of a project that has already repurposed and resurfaced an adjacent derelict tennis court and turned it into a Futsal court (an all-ages, fast-paced version of soccer that’s played on a hard court), added basketball hoops for additional neighborhood use and appeal, as well as beautified the area with VA-native shade trees and flowerbeds.

Our founder, Brooke Sydnor Curran and Judy Lo of the City’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities were at the playground at 3909 Bruce Street (behind Mom’s Organic Market) on Wednesday, May 1st from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with the plans for the proposed site design and to talk about what’s happening and to answer any community questions. Check out some photos from this great community event!
